TitleCopy letter list of Polar Voyages 1773-1880
Date[June 1899]
DescriptionList of 35 Government Polar expeditions. Information comprises date, Captain, and aim.
List of nine private expeditions helped by Government.

Notes that for the last 107 years Her Majesty's Government has sent a polar voyage averaging every three years so that this useful work has become the regular work of the navy. Officers have always been lent and assistance given to private expeditions approved by Her Majesty's Government when asked for. The refusal of such help would be quite unprecedented.
