TitleCopy letter from Arthur William Rucker, to Sir Richard Strachey, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date2 December 1899
DescriptionThe minute of the Meteorological Council relative to the retirement of Mr R H Scott form the office of Secretary to the Council and to the appointment of his successor has been considered by the President and Council. They are of the opinion that the course proposed, namely that the new Secretary should while holding that office, be a member of Council, would be a change in the constitution of the Committee requiring the approval of Her Majesty's Treasury. Before coming to a final decision the President and Council ask for further information concerning the incorporation of the Meteorological Council and funding. In making these enquiries the President and Council are not expressing any opinion as to whether they are or are not preferable to the course proposed by the Meteorological Council.

If information is received before 7th December the subject can be considered by the Council meeting on that day.
