TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Andrew Russell Forsyth, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date10 January 1900
DescriptionHas seen Professor [Arthur William] Rucker today and concurs with Forsyth in proceeding with the publication of Mr Yule's paper under Standing Order 43.

Regarding Professor [Karl] Pearson's paper, Professor Rucker has asked Harrison to say that he thinks the Standing Orders relating to short papers were only intended to secure any papers of greater length receiving special consideration before being published in the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]' and that, as a matter of fact, the Secretaries in concurrence with the Chairmen of Sectional Committees, have on several occasions authorized the publication in the 'Proceedings' of papers that did not comply with the definition of short papers, receiving condonation from the Sectional Committee or Council afterwards. If Forsyth concurs, Rucker is prepared to take his share of responsibility in offering Pearson's paper for the 'Proceedings' and obtaining condonation afterwards.
