TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster [Royal Society]
Date5 January 1888
DescriptionUpdates on the current business of the Royal Society. Rix sends all the Foreign Office letters for Foster's signature; notes that he has written to Horsely [Victor Alexander Haden Horsely] and Schafer [Edward Albert Schafer] four times for their plates and refers to Horsely's absence from England as explanation for the delay; exculpates himself from blame for the fact that a page of the Society's committees was overlooked at the last Council, explaining that the Senior Secretary in charge was taken ill and the other officers' overlooked a page on which 3 or 4 committees ought to have be reappointed; reference to a paper submitted by Herbert Carpenter as suitable for 'Proceedings of the Royal Society', Rix asks if it can be set up for 'Proceedings of the Royal Society' and whether in can be advertised for the next meeting.

A postscript notes the enclosure of a list of the sub-committees for Foster to revise, and a slip proof of the Government Grant History [not included] which Rix will print off and circulate once Foster returns it.
