TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to E H Howard, Nocton Rise, Lincoln
Date2 November 1888
DescriptionAt the instruction of the Royal Society Treasurer, John Evans, Rix asks for details of the work which has been done on the farm at Mablethorpe and of the cost. Evans is confident of receiving an account of the matter, so Rix encloses the cheque for 22 pounds, ten shillings and six pence as the amount voted by Council for improvement works, though he notes that they will be glad to receive the information soon.

With regard to their recent rent payment, Rix reminds them that Mablethorpe is still assessed at 110 pounds, although the rent is only 100 pounds, with the deduction because the property tax exceeds what it should be. Evans wishes to remind them of their duty to appeal against this assessment in future payments. Rix returns their voucher for Property Tax, and, in a postscript, asks that they cash the enclosed cheque quickly as they will soon be closing their account.
