TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr Arthur Gamgee, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date6 December 1888
DescriptionRix sends his sympathies that Gamgee is 'again a sufferer'' and notes that they will assist in his work while he is away.

He apologises that there is no rule which will allow them to charge less than full price for the paper, so he is only sending one copy. Rix also sends thanks for answering his query about the 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers', apologises for having troubled Gamgee, and believes that the five pounds, 17 shillings cheque will provide the clue to settle the error in their accounts.

Rix notes that he has been suffering from severe neuralgia himself, with many others in a similar situation, which he attributes to the mild but damp weather.

A postscript notes that Gamgee's paper dates from before 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' was published in two volumes, and the copies he has at home are author's copies so they have none at the Royal Society. They can send the relevant volume of 'Transactions' on loan or sell it at two pounds, or 13 shillings and four pence as he is a Fellow.
