TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Thomas Andrews, Fellow of the Royal Society, Wortley, near Sheffield
Date5 March 1900
DescriptionWith reference to Andrews' letter requesting the withdrawal of Mr Allen's certificate of candidature, Harrison explains that he is in a little technical difficulty. As the list of candidates has already been read to the Society Harrison does not feel empowered to remove a name from the list. Will refer the point to the Secretaries and communicate again.

Under the Statue governing the resuspension of certificates, which as Andrews will see from the enclosed circular [not enclosed] the Council now interpret strictly, Allen's certificate if not allowed to stand this year, would lapse, and a new certificate would have to be got up for him.
