| Description | Has read [Charles] Chree's answer carefully but without comparing it in detail with [Hugh Longbourne] Callendar's report, he thinks Chree makes a very good case and that the matter must be carefully considered by the Committee. It may be best to submit the paper, Callendar's report and Chree's reply to Boys again and ask him for his view of what Chree has said. The fact that the experiment was begun under the direct supervision of Griffiths, and under conditions which [Ernest Howard] Griffiths, [Charles Thomas] Heycock and [Francis Henry] Neville approved, seems to make it impossible to wipe the whole thing out as having been done under unsuitable circumstances or under circumstances unfair to the instruments.
Rucker would be inclined to publish the paper in full with the insertion of a carefully worded preface. |
