TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir Clements Robert Markham, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date3 May 1900
DescriptionHas Markham's letter of the previous day. It rests with the Government Grant Committee and not the Royal Society Council to vote the contribution to the Antarctic Expedition and the grant will be considered by the Grant Committee which meets the week after next to consider the application of the Joint Antarctic Committee for a grant of £1000, payable in installments.

The vote was postponed from last year on an assurance given to the Government Grant Committee that none of the money would be wanted during their current financial year, but in the confident expectation that the money when required would be provided in subsequent years.

Believes the Government Grant Committee would have great difficulty in finding the whole sum of £1000 out of this years grant, but so soon as they have made their report, Harrison shall be able to send Markham a cheque for whatever installment they vote.
