Description | Explains that the works on Nebula about which he enquires are now hard to obtain. Suggests his correspondent enquire to W H Wesley at the Royal Astronomical Society, Messrs Welsey & Son who recently had a large stock of astronomical books, and Messrs Macmillan & Bowes, Cambridge.
Thinks the Herschel catalogues were published in the 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' 1833, 1864, but not with the title 'General Catalogue'. Thinks Messier's catalogue was published in the 'Memoires of the Paris Academy of Sciences', 1771. The latter would be very difficult to procure now. |
