Title | Copy letter from Michael Foster, to the Under Secretary of State for the Colonies |
Date | 27 June 1900 |
Description | The Malaria Committee have had under consideration Foster's letter of 23 May and have discussed the question proposed by Mr Secretary Chamberlain as to the continuance of the investigations now being carried on. The Committee are of the opinion that the services of Dr Daniels in connection with the investigations may be brought to conclusion on his route from East Africa
Regarding the investigations by Dr Stephens and Dr Christophers, the results they are now obtaining are of the highest interest. Briefly summaries these investigations and compares them with the work of Professor Koch. Will shortly be able to forward to the Secretary Chamberlain a more detailed memorandum as to the measures which should be taken for the prevention of Malaria which are based largely on the results of Stephens and Christophers' investigations. The Committee has no hesitation in recommending strongly that these investigations should be continued.
Pending preparation of the larger Memorandum, the Committee would be happy to draw up a shorter memorandum for the information of those dwelling in malarial regions. Lists the points the Committee would insist upon including in this. |
