DescriptionThe Astronomer Royal is not able to provide any information regarding the instruments [used by Mason and Dixon in America in around 1767] other than what is already in 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]'. The Astronomer Royal states he believes a Mr J H Gore of the US Coast and Geodetic Survey has written on Mason and Dixon, and may know something of the instruments.
