TitleCopy letter Sir Michael Foster, to Professor [James Cossar] Ewart, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date4 July 1901
DescriptionFoster replies to his letter of 25 June to inform him that the two papers by Mr Simpson have received careful consideration, and the Council have decided it is not desirable that they should be accepted. It is not customary for the Council to give reasons for their decisions about papers, but Foster may inform him unofficially that the papers were not considered to contain sufficient evidence of novel conclusion. It is open to Ewart, as communicator, to withdraw the papers. If they are not withdrawn they will be deposited in the archives.
