TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to S Webb, London County Council
Date11 November 1901
DescriptionLondon County Council has requested the Lords Commissioners of His Majesty's Treasury to present to the Horniman Museum for its library a set of the 'Challenger' reports. The Lords consider the Royal Society in all such cases of presentation of these reports, and the request of the London County Council has thus come before the Society. Before giving advice the Royal Society would desire to be assured that the volumes in question would be of real use; seriously consulted for scientific purposes. Asks if Webb could assist with a statement or by asking the proper person to make a statement to Foster.

The Royal Society would also like to know whether in case there is any difficulty in presenting one of a few remaining 'entire' sets, the presentation of a broken set would be wished for.
