TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to the Secretary, the Bank of England
Date29 January 1902
DescriptionHears through the agent of the Western Branch that the Secretary considers the seal recently affixed by the Council to a Power of Attorney to differ from the specimen lodged with the bank. The Society's seal is impressed by means of a punch prepared from the original seal of the Society, which is a silver engraved seal usable only with melted wax. For this purpose a new punch has recently been engraved from the original and, except possibly in the matter of size, does not differ in essential particulars from the old punch. If this explanation does not meet the banks requirements, it will be necessary to wait until the next meeting of Council on 20 February 1902, since the seals of the Society themselves are kept under a seal, which can only be broken at a meeting of Council.
