| Description | 1. Regarding the 'Challenger' Committee, President and Council have more than once urged on Her Majesty's Government the course Thiselton-Dyer recommends, but the Lord's of Her Majesty's Treasury have not been convinced. The Lords continue to present, chiefly broken sets of the volumes of the reports to individuals and bodies after consultation with the Royal Society. Hence it is necessary to continue the Committee.
2. The Indian Advisory Committee at its inception was intended to be a standing committee. It's true it has not been consulted in the past years, but there is reason to believe that a very important matter will shortly be referred to it.
The President and Council appreciate Thiselton-Dyer's sound advice contained in the second paragraph of his letter, but submit to him that it is not quite relevant to the cases in point, and trust that he will remain a member of both Committees. |
