DescriptionWhite will be interested to hear that the Royal Society have awarded the Copley Medal to his fellow countryman, Professor Josiah Willard Gibbs on account of his contributions to Mathematical Physics. The President of the Royal Society hopes that White, or a delegate, will be able to make the ceremony on 30 November and accept the medal on behalf of Gibbs, who is unable to attend.
