DescriptionStanley Gardiner has requested that the Royal Society use its influence with the Government to secure assistance for an exploration, oceanographic etc, of certain regions in the Indian Ocean. Gardiner would be the expedition's leader, and he refers to Murray as giving general approval.

Asks Murray to provide a statement, open or private, outlining his opinion on the value of such a project and the desirability of Stanley Gardiner as leader of such an expedition.
