Title | Copy letter sent from Sir Michael Foster and Joseph Larmor, to The Director of the Public Control Department, London County Council |
Date | 14 May 1903 |
Description | By special request of President and Council the matter of smoke abatement was taken into detailed consideration by the Executive Committee of the National Physical Laboratory. They appointed a sub-Committee consisting of Sir E Carbutt, C V Boys, R Forbes Carpenter, Colonel Crompton, Professor Larmor, Dr W N Shaw, A Siemens and R T Glazebrook. They have drawn up a report of their recommendations, which is being sent herewith [no enclosures].
In paragraphs two and six Council are in complete accord with the National Physical Laboratory. The problem is of such magnitude that substantial practical results can only be derived from the subject being placed under scientific direction of an expert, who will in turn have administrative assistance. |
