| Description | The Royal Society have been approached by the Royal Meteorological Society with the view of obtaining assistance in the continuation of researches into the meteorological conditions of the upper air by means of kites carrying self-recording apparatus. It is considered very desirable that these researches should continue for another season. Kite flying is dangerous over populous areas, and last year a steam tug was used. However this year a faster vessel will be needed to raise the kites in absence of winds.
Hopes that the Admiralty will cooperate in these investigations by placing a suitable steam vessel at the disposal of the committee which consists of: Captain D Wilson Barker, F Campbell-Bayard, Dr H R Mill, Dr R H Scott, R H Curtis, W H Dines, Captain M W C Hepworth, with the cooperation of the British Association appointed at Belfast in 1902. |
