TitleCopy letter from Sir Michael Foster, to Professor Thomas McKenny Hughes, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date26 March 1901
DescriptionHis application for a grant in aid of excavations at Pikerni has been laid before President and Council. They have been informed that the Trustees of the British Museum are sending out an expedition to Pikerni. Furthermore, the circumstances attending any such exploration at Pikerni are such as to render the sending of any second expedition undesirable. Therefore the grant has been declined, as the President and Council are unwilling to take any steps which might jeopardize the British Museum's expedition.
