TitleCopy letter from Archibald Geikie, to The Permanent Financial Secretary of the Treasury
Date19 May 1904
DescriptionAcknowledges their letter on the subject of the application for copies of the Challenger reports from the Marine Laboratory of the Carnegie Institution, dry Tortugas, Florida, and others. These are now under consideration. There should be changes made in the manner of dealing with such applications; complete sets of Challenger reports should be jealously guarded for the sake of deserving institutions.

Much time would be saved if the Royal Society didn't have to refer each individual application for broken sets to the Treasury.
