DescriptionCouncil agreed to the proposal to nominate a Committee jointly with the Royal Astronomical Society to take part in an international scheme of solar observations. The members of the Committee are nominated by the Royal Society to be: Sir William Huggins, William Henry Mahoney Christie, Sir Joseph Norman Lockyer and Professor Arthur Schuster.

It was considered that Turner would naturally be nominated by the Royal Astronomical Society. The Committee should act as far as possible in concert with the Solar Physics Committee and the Meteorological Committee.
