TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to H J Chaney, Board of Trade (Standards Department), 7, Old Palace Yard, S.W.
Date12 May 1902
DescriptionAll the Standard Scales lately in the possession of the Royal Society are, with exception of its own, deposited with the Victoria & Albert Museum (Science Section). Harrison is afraid he cannot trace the history of Sir George Shuckburgh Evelyn's Brass Standard Scale subsequently to 1834 when it appeared in the printed list of instruments belonging to the Royal Society. It might be worth Chaney's while to examine the Standard's deposited in the Museum, one is dated 1796 and Evelyn's Scale appears to have been presented to the Royal Society at that period.

A reference to the Scale can be found in 'Philosophical Transactions [of the Royal Society]' 1798, page 137.
