DescriptionThe Commission to the West Indies [Caribbean] is report to a Committee of the Royal Society on the recent volcanic phenomena. They will first proceed to St Vincent, and will, if the opportunity offers, give some attention to the island of Martinique. They will direct their enquiry to the history of the great eruptions, and their products and of the result of the physical changes, the effects the eruptions had on the population, and the cause of deaths. The Royal Society hopes to publish a preliminary report once the observers return.
