TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to A Spencer, London County Council
Date12 January 1903
DescriptionWrites with reference to Spencer's suggestion that a preliminary interview be arranged between representatives of the Royal Society and the officers of the London County Council on the matter of smoke abatement. Harrison has no real knowledge of the subject and has asked C V Boys for assistance. The Royal Society could only advise as to scientific principles and anything like giving a testimonial to one particular article of manufacture as against others would be carefully avoided. Most of the Fellows who have given close attention to this subject are engineers and it is difficult to secure them for such a Committee, which is closely akin to their professional work.
