TitleCopy letter from Sir Michael Foster to, unknown recipient
Date28 May 1903
DescriptionCouncil has read with deep concern the report of their reply in the House of Commons to the question of Colonel Royds. The Royal Society has given the government all the information at its disposal regarding the Antarctic Expedition. It is possible the government has received statements it believed were from the Royal Society, when it has played no part in them. This is possible as under the terms of the Joint Committee of the Royal Society and Royal Geographical Society, no letter to the government was to be regarded as official unless bearing the signatures of both Presidents.

The Council cannot but think that the opinion they have expressed must be based on some misunderstanding. Asks them for a private interview to clear the matter up.
