TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to the Secretary of State for India
Date16 July 1903
DescriptionThe Malaria and Tsetse Fly Committee of the Royal Society had before them at their last meeting a communication from the Epidemiological Society of London forwarding a paper by Dr Manson, which had been read before that Society on 'The Relation of the Panama Canal to the Introduction of Yellow Fever into Asia'. After full consideration the Committee unanimously passed a resolution here quoted, that it is desirable that the attention of His Majesty's Government be called to the dangers likely to arise in the introduction of Yellow Fever to the East in consequence of the rapid and increased communication which will result from the Panama Canal between the Yellow Fever area of the West Indies [Caribbean], and the ports of Japan, China, Malaya, Singapore, the Philippines, Borneo, Australia, India and Ceylon.
