Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Edwin Ray Lankester, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 21 September 1903 |
Description | On returning from holiday Harrison found Lankester's letter of 15 September enclosing one to Sir M Foster relating to Miss Woodward's drawings. Cannot take the responsibility of paying an account which, on the face of it, is technically not chargeable against the Society, but will put the matter before the Treasurer [Alfred Bray Kempe]. Since Foster is in Venice, Harrison assumes he may lay Lankester's letter to him also before the Treasurer.
Whatever the decision may be in the particular circumstances of the present case, Harrison's letter of 31 July to Woodward was strictly in accordance with the instructions he has received for dealing with such matters and the published notice in every number of the 'Proceedings [of the Royal Society]'. |
