TitleCopy letter from Joseph Larmor, to Messrs Troughton & Simms
Date1 October 1903
DescriptionThe Society learns from the British South Africa Company that they have ascertained that Gottschalk of Stockholm, the makers of the standard the Messrs have had under examination, has retired from business. Under the circumstances Sir W Huggins thinks that Mr Simms could look at the accessories of the standard in light of the description on page 30 of the enclosed memoir [not enclosed] in order to see if he could put the apparatus into time[?] for use in Rhodesia [Zimbabwe]. If the description does not suffice, the Society might be able to borrow a copy of General [?] of the Ordnance Survey's memoir. It is important to get the apparatus sent out soon in good order as the expedition has started. Is acquainting the South Africa Company with this suggestion.
