TitleCopy letter from Joseph Larmor, to the Secretary, British South Africa Company
Date8 October 1903
DescriptionEncloses Mr Simm's report on the geodetic standard [not enclosed]. The request made to the Russian Government was for the loan of a two and a half meter standard. Sir David Gill made no mention of Larmor [?] wires or tape[?] such as Mr Simms speaks of and nothing would be gained by further inquiry of the Russian Government. Recommends that, to make sure that the apparatus will be affective when it arrives in Rhodesia [Zimbabwe], Messrs Troughton & Simms be authorized by the Company to supply these wires, and see that everything is in order. Doubts application to Gill would elicit any information, the expedition having started.
