Title | Copy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Sir Michael Foster, Fellow of the Royal Society |
Date | 23 November 1903 |
Description | Encloses a letter from Ross and draft of the reply he proposes sending [not enclosed]. Thinks there are several objectionable features regarding Ross' request. The list of candidates is not complete. In view of the object of the request, the responsibility of making a selection from a general list of candidates is one which, in Foster's opinion ought not to fall upon any Officer of the Society. Acceding to the request officially might also be recognizing what seems to him a dangerous claim of any given clique of Fellows to constitute themselves a body for the purpose of influencing the elections. Sends the whole matter to Foster in case he thinks some notice ought to be taken.
Encloses a card from Professor Allbutt [not enclosed]. |
