TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Professor Karl Pearson, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date24 November 1903
DescriptionIn reply to Pearson's note just received, Harrison presumes that the resolution of the Committee of Papers to which Pearson refers is that passed on 19 June 1902 concerning the separation of pure mathematical theory of statistics from the application of statistics to special sciences.

Since Harrison has heard of no objection on the grounds of this resolution, to Pearson's paper now under reference, he takes it the question of withdrawal does not arise and is acting on the supposition that Pearson's paper will be read next Thursday. It is customary when time admits, to consult the convenience of authors as to the date of reading their papers, but in the present instance Pearson's paper was only marked for reading by the Secretaries last Thursday, and the usual printed notice was not sent to Pearson on account of the doubt which Harrison was informed had arisen as to Pearson's wishes regarding the paper.
