TitleCopy letter from Michael Foster, to Captain Greig, Sleeping Sickness Commission, Uganda
Date19 December 1903
DescriptionFoster explains that they have wired Greig because they were disturbed at news of his premature departure from Uganda. He explains that a Royal Army Medical Corporation man, Lieutenant Warwick Smith, has been appointed to continue Greig's work, and Foster hopes that Grieg will endeavor to acquaint him with the investigation and results obtained thus far.

He emphasises the importance of the work being undertaken, and asks whether he might reconsider his departure, or at least delay it until he is content that Smith has a complete understanding of the investigation.

Foster also notes that he ceased work as Secretary of the Royal Society on 30 November, and so the next letter Greig will receive will be signed by his successor, Sir Archibald Geikie.
