I am directed to acknowledge receipt of your letter of the 6th inst. [instant] and to inform you that under the practice of the Society the first step necessary towards the consideration of your Paper is that it shall be communicated by a Fellow of the Society. You will no doubt have among you acquaintances an F.R.S [Fellow of the Royal Society] whom you can consult on this subject.
