TitleCopy letter from Robert William Frederick Harrison, to Dr Richard Tetley Glazebrook, Fellow of the Royal Society
Date11 January 1905
DescriptionAsks for Glazebrook's opinion on a matter that has been dragging on for a year, and which Harrison and the Treasurer would be glad to be disposed of. The Falmouth Observatory have a magnetograph which was purchased out of the Government Grant fund some twenty years ago. The Cornwall Polytechnic Society somehow persuaded the government to take out insurance against fire, including lightening, for £900. This is unusual, as if there is insurance at all, it should be insured by grantee. A couple of years ago, the government dropped the payment, but the Treasurer authorised Harrison to pay it out of the Royal Society's funds. It is only 7/6 a year, but is it worth maintaining insurance at all?
