TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company
Date11 February 1889
DescriptionRix reports that the headlines in their plates of 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society' differ in appearance and make the volume appear unfinished, including one instance where they revert to italic numbering. He asks that they assimilate the style of West, Newman & Company in adopting the 'upright style' and also bringing their headlines in line with the style of theirs. Rix encloses a sample for their reference, noting that this is this quality which means they select West, Newman & Company's headlines despite the quantity of plates made by the Cambridge Scientific Instrument Company.

He also remarks that in some plates they have come near the edge of the paper, which means in the paper covered volume some of the figures are almost cut, and it is likely that, when they are further cut down for the binder, parts of the figures may be lost.
