TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to John Evans, Treasurer, Royal Society
Date7 December 1889
DescriptionRix sends the analysis of insurance received from Mr Jaques, and notes that he cannot see the use in heavily insuring manuscripts which, if lost or damaged, could not be replaced at any price, else he would point out that the two fusts[?] are not covered by the fifty pound limit on any book in the 'Norfolk Collection'. He also suggests that 'Norfolk Collection' is ambiguous, having originally been intended to indicate the Clock Case and its contents, and now complicated by the inclusion of valuable books which were never in the Norfolk catalogue.
