TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Dr [Edmund J] Spitta, Ivy House, Clapham Common, S.W.
Date16 December 1889
DescriptionRix informs Spitta that his paper was read on 5 December, with the notice of reading having been posted to him at 29 November, which was recorded in the Royal Society porter's book; furthermore, their clerk remembers writing the circular. He suggests that as it was on a printed form, it may have been discarded on the assumption that it was an ordinary circular.

Whatever the cause of the mistake, Rix is sorry that he was unable to attend the reading, and will explain to the Officers the reason for his absence.
