TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, [Royal Society]
Date23 December 1889
DescriptionRix went to the Treasury on Friday and saw Mr Spring Rice, who informed him that he needed to put into a letter how the expenditure stood, and how the publication stood. Also, as it appeared from Rix's statement that 800 pounds would be due at the end of January, it would be more convenient to issue the grant in two sums, with one to be applied for immediately, and the second 800 pounds to be applied for before it lapses at the end of March.

Rix does not know if Foster or the Treasurer, John Evans, will sign the letter, but notes that it would be good for Foster to see it. He has also sent Mr Murray's data, with which he can compare the letter, and then return to Rix.
