DescriptionUpdates on matters of Royal Society business.

Rix notes that he has taken Joseph Norman Lockyer's name off the advertisement. A paper has just arrived by A W M Robson [Arthur William Mayo-Robson], Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, on the 'excretion & uses of bile', which has been communicated by Dr Thomas Clifford Allbutt, and asks whether that might be taken instead. As the advertisement does not have to be sent to press until Friday or Saturday, Rix can send the paper for Foster to read.

Professor Newton has visited to enquire about his list of periodicals, which Rix must speak to Foster about, as he brought along a new list from the Zoological Society which they ought to have had all along.

They have had a letter from the Australian Museum with a list of correspondents to whom copies of the Lendenfeld monograph should be sent, which shall be done as soon as their more pressing work has been befgun. Rix presumes that they need not report this to Council.

The Department of Mines, New South Wales, have requested the return of the fossil in its current unrepaired condition.

Mr White has looked through Foster's "thrown-outs", but he believes it would be better to talk the matter over as it is not pressing. Mr Holt has plenty of work to do, and White will do the first revision as Foster suggests but wishes to ask some questions on how to proceed.

A letter from the Astronomy Royal is enclosed [not included], and Rix asks if it can wait for another Council.
