TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Mr [Henry Clifton] Sorby, [Fellow of the Royal Society]
Date3 January 1889
DescriptionRix sends the two programmes requested, having ticked the exhibits be believes most suitable for Sorby's purpose.

He outlines them, declaring Lovibond's to be 'very good' and likely to be sent by way of advertisement; Clayden's as 'the best and most popular of all' and so Rix recommends trying to get it; Seeley and Young might be persuaded to send theirs by post; Muybridge, if he has not already been in Sheffield, would be likely to come if a guarantee of a certain size of audience were given, in addition to payment of his expenses, and he delivers lectures with a view to getting orders for photographs published by the University of Pennnsylvania; Baker's is noted as 'very amusing'.

Others, not ticked, may also be 'serviceable'. Rix sends thanks for the promise of Sorby's exhibit at their next Soirée.
