TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Messrs Sampson, Law & Company
Date6 January 1890
DescriptionRix asks for an explanation of their booking fees, as they are the only firm that exacts these fees when they present their publications to foreign scientific societies, though 10 or 12 other houses take tranmission fees without charging for booking. They have found that their clerks are not uniform in their application of charges, citing the example of one porter taking a parcel for Japan and charging no fee, and another taking the parcel for the Royal Zoological Museum in Florence and insisting on payment of the booking fee.
