Harley has apparently misunderstood Lord Rayleigh's note, which asked for an abstract, but which Harley took to mean a substitute for the longer paper. The figures will not be done for the meeting, and they do not usually publish figures in both the abstract and full paper. Rix explains that the abstract will be for use at the meeting, and the full paper will be published with figures if the referees decide to do so. It does not matter that references to the figures are in the abstract, as they can be struck out later if they are transferred to the full paper. |
