Description | Updates on matters of Royal Society business, namely orders and sales of printed works.
Trübner have sent for another 100 copies of the Krakatoa Report, suggesting sales are slowly continuing. Rix further notes that they still owe 243 pounds up to December 1888, but they have not paid despite a letter on 18 March and Rix calling on them.
The Chemical Society have terminated their annual order for 60 copies of 'Proceedings of the Royal Society'.
Dr Robert Lendlmayer von Lendenfeld is satisfied with his index, meaning there is nothing to prevent completion of the volume. Although it may be up to two months before it is printed off and bound, Rix suggests that they can start taking orders for it as he can get an estimate of costs to allow him to price it. He recommends sending a card offering the Society's Library catalogue at a reduced price, and on the same card they can offer the Lendenfeld mongraph. Rix also suggests advertising the 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers' at a reduced price to Free Libraries and Institutes, unless Evans thinks that they should be kept back for sale.
A postscript further notes that there are several other works which have not sold a copy, which might be offered at a reduced price. |
