TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, [Royal Society]
Date23 May 1889
DescriptionThe proofs sent by Rix on Thursday were almost uncorrected, but he has looked through them since and spotted Pflüger. Rix explains that the list was printed from last year's, but he had struck it out before Foster told him off it, and in fact Pflüger does appear in the published list of Foreign Members.

Rix will think about the word 'referred', stating that the totals must agree with his register but that he will make it clearer in some way. Some of Foster's suggestions 'will not...quite do' but Rix will delay explaining his reasons until he sends the revise. Rix encloses [not included] Oldfield Thomas's corrections and additions, but despite being told to expect them, they decided not to proceed until Foster had seen them. Finally, he asks if the alteration of the title is necessary, noting the great trouble caused when authors ask for this as it has to be altered in so many books that mistakes are likely.
