TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to Professor Michael Foster, [Royal Society]
Date1 July 1889
DescriptionUpdates on matters of Royal Society business.

Rix has returned Foster's copy of the Royal Society Statutes, and notes that the letter and circulars have been despatched.

Rix also reports that Professor Parker is not sorry that the grant from the Donation Fund is small, as in 1891 he will want to "open his beak again".

With regard to Statutes, Chapter I, paragraph three, Foster should omit the words 'a copy' in his amendment unless they have been adopted after consideration, with the book in question being merely a register of the names and addresses of candidates, with the date of reception of the certificate and the person from whom it comes.

Encloses the obituaries by Mr Hulke [not included] for Dr Greenhow and Dr McDonnell. Rix had no entry for the latter in his book, but supposes it to be alright. Rix sends them to Foster before setting up as they are briefer than usual, and he wants to check whether they match Foster's expectations.
