Description | Rix explains, in response to his pencilled note on the bottom of sheet five of the returned 'Catalogue of Scientific Papers', that the Committee decided to give the date and not number of the series, and that this convention has been followed throughout the eleven volumes issued so far. Although this could be changed in the new decade, it would not be practical to alter the manuscript of the decade now going through the press.
Rix further highlights that what is effectively a key to the series is prefixed to volumes one and seven of the catalogue. He futher adds that if the date is not sufficient then the number of the series can be found in the 'list of abbreviations' in the particulars of each series. |
