TitleCopy letter from Alfred H White, to John Evans, Treasurer, Royal Society
Date2 September 1889
DescriptionUpdates on matters of Royal Society business.

White has forwarded three accounts recently received from Harrison & Sons [not included].
He has received a final answer from the lithographers about the Bakerian Lecture maps. They have noted the original estimate for the 12 maps was on stone, but they can make a reduction of four pounds on the original estimate of 24 pounds. A cheaper alternative, photo-lithography, is also suggested, which would reduce the price further to 12 pounds and 10 shillings, though this may not work as well for those 'overcrowded with figures'. The estimate for the two shaded folding maps cannot be reduced, but the photolithography alternative can be suggested for the cheaper of the two. White outlines the original and alternative costs. He has not heard from the wood engraver regarding a reduction to his estimate.
With regard to the Lendenfeld monograph, Dr Michael Foster approves of the four journals proposed to review it, and further suggests that they might write to Lendenfeld to propose sending copies to the editors in Germany named by him.
Drake & Gorham have stated that they are attending to the matter of the storage cells.
