TitleCopy letter from Herbert Rix, to F J Woods, Bass Rock Hotel, North Berwick
Date19 September 1889
DescriptionRix encloses a receipt for Mr [Arthur James] Balfour's annual contribution to the Royal Society, together with a banker's form in case he should prefer that they undertake the payment in future [not included]. The composition fee for the annual payment is noted as 60 pounds, with the cheque just received able to be returned should he prefer life composition.

Rix also asks if Woods could remind Balfour that he has not formally been admitted into the Society, and although they are aware of his difficulty in attending on a Thursday afternoon they would be glad if he could be reminded. The remaining dates for 1889 are listed as 21 November, 5, 12 and 19 December.
